Organising or running an event, no matter how large or small, can be a stressful affair and it's all too easy to overlook some of the un-tangibles such as public liability insurance or event cancellation cover.
As event insurance specialists, Insync can provide instant quotations and cover for a full spectrum of activities from conferences and sporting events to charity or community based jumble sales or carnivals.
We you’re tasked with organising an event we understand how frustrating it can when liability insurance obstacles get in the way of your great idea or eat into your modest budget. Rest assured we wont be put off by your bouncy castle, trampoline or face painting brainwave!
Event insurance will typically revolve around two core areas of cover:
1. Event Public Liability Insurance – which will protect you against claims from attendees or members of the public following injury or damage to their property as a result of the actions of you or a member of the event team. For example, a stall collapses at a fete and lands on an attendees foot breaking several toes.
2. Event Cancellation Insurance –Events can be cancelled for a variety of unforeseen reasons from severe weather, non-attendance of key speakers or performers, to traffic incidents and many more. Without adequate cancellation insurance cover your business or charity will be subject to significant financial risk.
In addition to public liability and cancellation cover, our event insurance policies can be extended to include other risks such as physical items of property (loss or damage cover), money and personal accident cover.
We would also recommend the inclusion of employers liability insurance, this will protect you against claims from employees or volunteers who may suffer injury or illness as a result of working at the event for which they hold you responsible. For example – a volunteer trips over a loose power cable and breaks their arm.

Following a car accident, the motorway providing access to a conference venue is closed. The law firm’s annual conference has to be abandoned, leading to travel, hotel and other expenses being incurred. Total claim cost c£25k.
Firework displays or other events involving the use of pyrotechnics can be covered subject to appropriate safety measures and risk management processes being put in place.
In many cases a third party firm will provide the fireworks display, in which case they will carry their own insurance and your event cover will simply provide contingency protection.
Depending on the size of the event, you should look to arrange cover as soon as possible after you have made financial commitments that would be lost in the event of cancellation.
For large-scale events cover is arranged months, or even years, ahead of the occasion. For smaller charity or community events, cover is typically arranged within three months of the event itself.
